Hardisty Travel Guide
Welcome to Hardisty!
Hardisty evokes thoughts of neverending railway tracks, long oil pipelines and a rolling agricultural landscape. Situated in the Battle River Valley, the Alberta town is located 206 km (128 mi) southeast of Edmonton and 80 km (50 mi) west of the Saskatchewan border. In the early 1900s, the passing railway brought development to the area and Hardisty is now the focal point for Canada—s energy pipelines as over 70 per cent of North America—s oil passes through the area. Its more surprising claim to fame is its feature on national TV in the reality show, The Week the Women Went, in which the town's men folk were left to fend for themselves for seven days. Hardisty also has the distinction of having a lake and a campground within its borders, making swimming, boating, beach activites and camping all close at hand. For angling enthusiasts, the aptly named Fish Lake is also just 2.5 km (1.5 mi) out of town.
